Inspiration: Mara Hoffman Swimwear

I am not one to spend $200 on a swimsuit, but I cannot stop obsessing over Mara Hoffman’s swimwear line. Her prints are insanely adorable and her shapes are so fun! Can I also say this model is gorgeous? This shoot is just beautiful. It makes me want to go back in time, vacation in Havana and fall in love with a young waiter/revolutionary played by Diego Luna. I could have gone with another film reference, but I don’t care if the world knows I’ve seen Dirty Dancing 2: Havana Nights. Twice.

Squashing Monday Blues

Summer is coming! The temperature might be high 50′s, but the sun is out and they days are getting longer, which means summer is close! I have been obsessively planning out my summer activities. One activity I plan on participating in a lot, is going to the beach. Last year we went to the beach with my family only a few times, so this year I’m making an extra effort to go. San Francisco beaches, just don’t hold up. I’m actually a little terrified of them. So, I will be making a lot of trips to socal, solely to surf/paddleboard with my family. Which, I think is awesome! There is nothing that makes me happier than planning a beach day, especially on a Monday!

Below are essentials for any successful beach trip!

Also, nothing puts me in a better mood than River Deep – Mountain High. So, daydream about the beach, sing along to some Tina and enjoy your Monday.

The Weekender: Chambray Button Up Shirt

I have this amazing chambray button up I bought last summer and it has become a wardrobe staple. Since sunshine isn’t too far away, I can’t stop thinking about all the pairing possibilities. I do know, I am one click away from being the proud owner of those red Nicole Miller shorts.

Jean Paul Gaultier at the de Young

A few days ago I had the pleasure of attending the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit with my dear friend Kim. I can’t even describe how amazing it was. It was gorgeous and cutting-edge, with a sly sense of humor.  Talking mannequins are spread throughout the exhibit, they talk to you, they sing, they even talk to themselves in the mirror. They had a room dedicated to his corsets (Madonna cone bra included) and a room dedicated to his amazing film work, including City of Lost Children and The Fifth Element. It was just fantastic! I recommend it to Gaultier fans as well as people not as familiar with his work, it was such a great experience.

 

The exhibit is open until August 19, 2012 at the de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park
