DIY: Chalkboard Tombstones

It’s finally October! Let Halloween and Pumpkin Spice Lattes commence! I have so many projects to share and I’m really excited about this first one. I don’t know if you have noticed but I have a lot of chalkboard paint laying around my house! I will say that for the pumpkins last week, I used paint out of a bottle and this week I used spray paint. The spray paint is much quicker and dries faster, so the process isn’t as long and drawn out. I used a foam poster board for this project because I don’t have access to a saw, but imagine this would be 100% cooler on wood.

What you’ll need: Foam poster board/ Sharpie/ X-Acto Knife/ Chalkboard Paint/ Chalk

Step One: Draw the shape you’d like your grave to be. I just winged it, but you can find some great templates from Martha Stewart.

Step Two: Use your X-Acto knife to cut this out.

Step Three: Paint your grave and let fully dry. You want this 100% dry, so when in doubt wait a little longer.

Step Four: Lay your chalk sideways and rub across the whole surface of your completely dry grave. Then take a towel and rub the chalk off. Now you are ready for the fun stuff.

Step Five: Decorate how ever you’d like! Because I’m a nerd, the sayings on the graves I took from the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. Here is a list off all the graves they have there and the stories behind them.
